The Saline Area Fire Department (SAFD - 429-7911) has it's first full time employee. The executive board which is the governing body of the SAFD hired interim chief Craig Hoeft to fill the position of fire chief. Craig has been a paid on call firefighter for the SAFD for 21 years. He has held previous officer positions of lieutenant, captain and assistant chief prior to his appointment as interim chief. Chief Hoeft was chosen from a field of 8 highly qualified applicants in a day long interviewing process by the Executive Board and the Pittsfield Township Fire Marshall (non-voting), the City of Saline, Saline Township, Lodi Township, and a portion of York Township. The areas that are served by the SAFD could not be more pleased by the selection of Craig Hoeft and wish him the very best as the SAFD continues to evolve in a growing community. Oh, by the way, Craig and his family live in Lodi Township.
